Overall Trend
- In 2017, there were 233 hospitalizations due to cerebrovascular disease among Chatham-Kent residents.
- The rate was 167.4 (145.5, 189.4) per 100,000 which was significantly higher than the rate of 132.6 (130.7, 134.4) per 100,000 for Ontario.
- Over time, rates have decreased slightly provincially and locally, with rates for Chatham-Kent being higher than the province overall.

By Age Group
- Hospitalization rates increased significantly with increasing age in those 20 and older.
- In Chatham-Kent, those 65 to 74 experienced significantly higher rates compared to Ontarians of the same age group.

Mortality
Overall Trend
- In 2015, there were 62 deaths due to cerebrovascular disease among Chatham-Kent residents.
- The mortality rate was 42.4 (31.7, 53.1) per 100,000 which was not significantly different than the rate of 32.8 (31.9, 33.7) per 100,000 for Ontario.
- Over time, rates have declined locally and provincially, with rates for Chatham-Kent generally significantly higher than rates for Ontario.

By Age Group
- Provincially, mortality rates increased significantly with increasing age. A similar trend was observed for Chatham-Kent, however, only the 75 and older age group experienced a significantly higher rate compared to younger age groups.

- Ontario males experienced significantly higher mortality rates compared to Ontario females. The opposite trend was observed for Chatham-Kent, however the difference between sexes was not significant.
