  • In 2017, there were 142 hospitalizations due to diabetes among Chatham-Kent residents.
  • The rate was 130.4 (108.3, 152.5) per 100,000 which was significantly higher than the rate of 100.9 (99.2, 102.5) per 100,000 for Ontario.
  • Over time, rates have remained stable provincially and locally, with rates in Chatham-Kent being higher than the province overall.

Overall Trend
  • In 2015, there were 34 deaths due to diabetes among Chatham-Kent residents.
  • The mortality rate was 25.3 (16.6, 34.0) per 100,000 which was not significantly different than the rate of 18.0 (17.3, 18.6) per 100,000 for Ontario.
  • Over time, rates have declined locally and provincially, with rates for Chatham-Kent generally higher than rates for Ontario.
